“Transport. Problems and hopes” was the title of a book I wrote in 1978. A book publisher had a series of popular books, “ABC of Economy.” My friend there was looking for an author for a book about transportation. He knew that at that time I worked for the railroad institute. As railroads were the core of transportation in Poland, he offered me the opportunity to write that book. He expected an outsider’s view with some insider input. So I did it. A few readers told me privately that they found my book to be a comprehensive presentation of how we should talk about the economy, using the example of transportation.

Many tell us what to think. I ask my readers to be skeptical. Question me and others.
